Hey everybody and welcome to our 3rd tutorial at crypticGFX. If you haven't done so already, register and introduce yourself. In this tutorial you will be learning how to create a simple grungy/abstracty fractal signature. Lets begin.

Pre-Step:
Before we begin you're going to need some grunge and fractical brushes. I've posted a couple download links below.

http://javierzhx.deviantart.com/art/Frac...s-31211160
http://browse.deviantart.com/?q=grunge%2...24#/dduxor

Step 1:
Open up a new document 400x180 pixels in size.

Step 2:
Grab the paint bucket tool and fill the background a deep blue. I used the color #11294a.

Step 3:
Create a new layer. Now crack open those fractal brushes, brush the top left corner once with a lighter brush. It should look like this:

Step 4:
Create another new layer. This time brush the top left with a heavier fractal brush.

Step 5:
Create another new layer. This time brush all over the document using the grunge brushes I had you download. Use a mix of darks and whites.

Step 6:
Set the layer mode to overlay, and lower the opacity to 50%.

Step 7:
Create a new layer. Now grab a 400px soft brush and brush the bottom right of the document. Use a extremely dark blue. I used #071220.

Step 8:
Create a duplicate of the heavy fractical layer. On the duplicate apply gaussian blur (filter>blur>gaussian) with the following settings.

Step 9:
Set the layer mode to overlay.

Step 10:
Create another new layer and set your foreground color to #2d87ff. Now grab the gradient tool and select the foreground to transparent gradient. Fill the top left corner like I did.

Step 11:
Set the layer mode to color and lower the opacity to 25%.

Step 12:
Create a new vibrance adjustment layer (layer>new adjustment layer>vibrance). Turn vibrance all the way up to 50%.

Step 13:
Now you can add some text and a border and you're done. Here's how mine turned out.

Looks great, the text is bad though. Are you setting the font AA to crisp?
No, it's on sharp actually, hold on, I'm gonna try to fix the text.
sorry for the double post, but does this look better?

Nah, it still looks extremely choppy. Maybe it's just on my screen. Here's a screenshot:
