Cryptic GFX - GFX Forum

Hey guys, I just wanted to share some future plans I had for these boards, but also take in suggestions if you have any.

1. Switch to Vanilla
Focnr brought it up to me in a PM that PHPBB doesn't look nice and that different forum software would be much better. I would soon like to convert this board over to Vanilla. Vanilla is rather new forum software that takes a completely different approach. It's a lot simpler and doesn't have the same feel as all the others.

Expand Youtube/Twitter
We opened up a twitter recently, but I haven't really started using it yet because the email I signed up with isn't working. Chridian is going to help run the twitter, and Focnr is going to help with the youtube account. You can expect to see these up in the next week or so.

Delete all useless members
80% of our current members have 0 posts and only signed up to enter in their website and get a back link. This is very annoying, and even disrespectful, to the forum and me. All these users will be deleted and security will be upped.

Domain Name + New Forums
I would also like to change the domain name to something a little more professional. Don't get me wrong I like the domain crypticgfx, but I think a better domain will attract more people. I'd like this forum to be centered around all types of design, so some new forums will also be added.

Rules:
I will also be adding some basic rules for everyone to follow (well mainly for spammers).

Anyway, I hope to see these changes as soon as possible. Do you guys have any suggestions/ideas?

How would everyone feel about switching to Vanilla Forums. It's a pretty new forum script, it's alot different from everything else. Totally gives forums a different feel. Check it out at:

Yes. Mybb, phpbb, smf, etc. are all old school. Forums have looked the same and worked the same for over a decade now. Vanilla is so much simpler, cleaner code, seo friendly, and switches up the default forum look. Install it and check it out. It beautiful. The backend is amazing. I love how it's not cluttered with useless excess features and settings. Also, Iove how you just click the star and it book marks the thread. Then it creates tabs for you "bookmarked threads" "all discussion" "your threads" makes topics a lot easier to follow.

I don't want this place to be like all the other gfx forums. I want it to be fresh and unique with the ability to expand into something bigger. I think all these changes will be a step in the right direction. I think you guys will like it. I'm currently developing a skin.

We should see some big changes over the next few weeks. I think activity will jump up too.

I'm all up for a forum switchover, although I have no problem with the current one, if it makes expansion and upkeep easier then I have no issues with it.

I'd also like to offer help on the Youtube/Twitter side of things. I'm getting fairly good with video editing and the like, so it would mostly be the Youtube thing that I can help with. The offer is there if you need it anyway.

I think I'm gonna be in charge of running the youtube channel, and I can use as much help as possible!

and I think I'll run the twitter as said, and I'll promote certain threads, and when we add tutorials, I'll even be social
So I'd recommend everyone getting a twitter, follow and retweet and all that

Way ahead of you dude, already following. Although I don't really use Twitter often, or have anyone interesting on there.

Just let me know what you need help with! I can make video tutorials, introductions and i'm getting okay at special effects. Of course, I'm still learning so I may be a bit slow with things at times, but I'll help out when I can.
